Ashlain Weapons Info

The Ashlain art was some of the most popular posted on my Deviant page so here is some more vintage Ashlain stuff.

This refers to a specific type of space-based anti shipping torpedo, only three Ashlain fighters can carry it.

The background for it was that at the time Hull-hugging shields became the norm as opposed to 'egg shell' type shielding. For note hull hugging shields formed a bubble about the ship, but that area of effect reached inward to a few meters away from the actual hull making it much harder to damage the target. The jumping torpedo craze sparked by the Saurians and FE brought the hull-hugging shield into use.

Prior shields were like eggshells they projected a roughly ovoid area of protection a decent distance way from the hull of the ship. The shield effect and the furthest protruding parts of the hull were equidistant. It's great focused shielding standard.. for most situations but it can be surpassed.
